Create Marbled Clay
Service Description
Join us for an immersive Nerikomi workshop where we'll explore the ancient Japanese technique of creating intricate patterns in clay. This hands-on session will guide you through the process of layering, slicing, "twining" and shaping bi-colored clay to craft complex marbled designs. This workshop can run over two hours and generally is scheduled for 3 hours+. This can also be scheduled as an all day event by appointment. Ages 10 and up, but with a warning for younger potters: this might appear to be a complex and confusing process. Experience with hand building clay is a plus but not a requirement, so chose an appropriate project or goal. This event includes instruction, clay, tools, oxides, firing, glazes and a glaze discussion. There are examples around the studio to inspire ideas. Each participant will get three lbs of clay to experiment with after a brief demo. Access to the slab roller will happen on a rotating basis for final builds, but not for initial rolling - so bring those triceps to the rolling pins.

To receive a full refund or the option for free rescheduling, the studio must be notified at least 5 days prior to the event date. Any refund offered may be subject to a 4% processing fee. Any time period less than 5 days but more than 2 days prior to the event will result in a rescheduling/cancellation fee equal to 50% of the cost of your workshop or event. We do not allow rescheduling within 48 hours of the class and no refunds will be offered for cancellations.
