Service Description
Kid Camp (5 days): we will be making cups, bowls, magnets, figurines, and be throwing on the wheel. Day 1: Morning: We will be throwing on the wheel with centered lumps of clay. Afternoon: We will make pinch bowls and decorate them with cutout shapes from hundreds of different cutters and stamps. Day 2: Morning: We will attempt to center clay on the wheel and throw a bowl. Afternoon: We will make slab plates or trays and use imprints of textured fabric as decoration. Slab rolling will be introduced in more detail. Day 3: Morning: We will attempt to throw on the wheel. Potters will center and throw a mug. Afternoon: We will make slab magnets with the hundreds of cutters and stamps in the studio. We can also slip cast shapes with liquid clay. Day 4: Morning: We will trim all thrown pots and throw our last pots to carve. Afternoon: We will build animal figures using slab techniques and/or with pinch pots. Day 5: Finish up all projects and instructors will aid in helping potters refining their masterpieces. Clay takes a few days to dry, then a week or two before the kiln is full. This stage is call bisque and is when glazes can be applied. Instructors can glaze from a set of colors or potters can come back to glaze for $10 per person per hour (booking is on my website and is typically 1-7pm weekdays and by appointment on the weekends). Note: I'm running this camp from 9am-12noon 1pm-4pm, but you can book the morning wheel camp from 9am-12noon or the afternoon camp if you message me. Potters should bring water and a lunch if attending both camps.
